Sept 27: 2011 Portfolio Wine Tasting of the Profile Wine Group

The Time and Date: Tuesday, September 27, 2011  2PM to 9PM

The Event: 2011 Portfolio Wine Tasting of the Profile Wine Group

The Venue: Liberty Grand, Centennial Room

The Target Audience: trade in the day, retail at night.

The Availability/Catalogue: all wines are in the LCBO distribution system such as Vintages and General List, although most are by Consignment.

The Quote/Background: There were many principals attending, but I had little time to ask questions because of the vast amount of wines to be tasted, over 200. I arrived just after 4PM and left at 7 PM.

The Wines: I did not taste all the wines. Prices are retail.

The Food: from select suppliers, there was coffee, prosciutto, breads, Greek olive oil, cheeses, and sausages. From the caterer, there were apps on platters being passed around, such as sweet potato and roast beef, deep-fried Portobellos, mushroom canapés, tomatoes, and more.

The Downside: the event is only every two years – there should be something every year, perhaps on a reduced scale. This is needed in order to keep the agency's name in front of the public.

The Upside: if you asked for it, there was a catalogue with names, vintages, and prices. Not many people had them, so their tasting must have been hit or miss.

The Contact Person: jturco@profilewinegroup.com

The Marketing Effectiveness/Execution of the Event(numerical grade): 88.
