Sept 27/11 -- Wines of Chile Annual Tasting

The Time and Date: Tuesday, September 27, 2011  12:30 PM to 5 PM

The Event: Wines of Chile Annual Tasting

The Venue: Royal Ontario Museum, Bronfman Room

The Target Audience: wine trade

The Availability/Catalogue: wines are available in various LCBO distribution channels (General, Vintages, Consignment, Private, online, discoveries, etc.). The catalogue was nicely put together with the primer basics of the Chilean wine industry, separate pages for each of the 33 wineries (with full contact details on websites, agencies, names, vintages, prices, and so forth).

The Quote/Background: There was a seminar at 12:30 which presented 14 natural and/or organic wines for tasting and discussion. Many principals attended at this major fair.

The Wines: There were some 250 wines. I did not taste them all.

The Food: there were international cheese and charcuterie, breads, biscuits, warm appetizers such as mini-empanadas (beef, chicken), pate, sushi. They were all replenished from time to time.

The Downside: I had to run off at 3:30 to go to another tasting.

The Upside: I appreciated the seminar because it gave me more time to taste Chilean wines before leaving to go to another tasting (see below). Also, there were special booths with special wines meant for licensees, award winners, and more natural-organic wines to taste.

The Marketing Effectiveness/Execution of the Event(numerical grade):90.
