The Date and Time: Tuesday, March 5, 2019  5:30PM - 8PM
The Event: A tasting of 16 Mile Cellar Vineyards and Winery, led by new winemaker Morgan Juniper with the participation of co-owner Susan Barnacal.
  The Venue: Yonge and Davisville
The Target Audience: Toronto wine writers
The Availability/Catalogue: the new wines will be available at the winery's Open House Saturday May 4.
The Quote/Background: The winery was founded in 2010, and is located on 16 Mile Creek, which is 16 miles from the Falls themselves. They only make Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, mostly from their 12 planted organic acres. Their first winemaker was Thomas Bachelder. "Our goal is to produce small quantities of hand-picked, hand-made and distinctive wines each year". Currently, the winery offers 10 wines, all in different vintages. There are three tiers: the Rebel line at $22.95, mostly meant for restaurants, the mid-priced Civility Chardonnay and Incivility Pinot Noir series at $29.95, and a top tier Tenacity Pinot Noir at $50. There is also a Rose made from bought-in riesling, chardonnay and pinot noir grapes. Total production thus far is about 1,000 cases a year. They use a mix of old and new (10%) French oak. Some of their wines are lightly filtered, and some not at all. More details are at www.16milecellar.com

The creeks in Niagara were actually measured from the mouth of the Niagara River not Niagara Falls. The measurements were not exactly accurate at the time.
