The Quote/Background: I write about wines but I also love beer, and this was a good opportunity to catch up with the latest developments in barley in Scotland.
The Beers: There were two remarkable ciders – Thistly Cross Traditional Cider 6.2% and Thistly Cross Whisky Cask Cider 6.9% - both worthy of 4 stars.

The Food: Scottish eggs and dips, smoked salmon (best with dark ale), potato salad, sausages in blanket plus dip.
The Downside: it got crowded very quickly, the aisles were narrow, and it was dark.
The Upside: a chance to taste some great Scottish beer.
