The Event: Joint tasting of wines from Il Botolo (Gradwell Wines) and Colle Manora (Cottonwood Agency)

The Date and Time: Monday June 5, 2017  6:30 – 9:30 PM
The Event: Joint tasting of wines from Il Botolo (Gradwell Wines) and Colle Manora (Cottonwood Agency)
The Venue: HotBlack Coffee, Queen Street West
The Target Audience: wine writers, clients
The Availability/Catalogue: all wines were available as landed for sale online, usually by the 6- or 12-pack.
The Quote/Background: It was nice to not only see two agencies co-operating but also having their wines from the same region: Piedmont. They told me that wines are available only by the case until the end of August, after which they can be bought by the bottle online and shipped freely to a store for pickup, so long as a $50 minimum is spent.
The Wines:

**** BEST -- Four Stars (91+ in Quality/Price Rating terms):
-Colle Manora Mila Collezione Chardonnay/Viognier 2014 Piemonte, 13.5%, 6 for $160 retail
-Il Botolo Moscato d'Asti 2015, $21.95 each  Woodbridge LCBO store or online (6 packs)
-Il Botolo Chardonnay 2015 Piemonte 40% Barrel Fermented, $25.95 each Woodbridge LCBO store or online (6 packs)

-Il Botolo Barbera d'Asti Nizza [18 mos. Oak, limited] 2013, $43.95 Consignment 6 pack

The Food: appetizer/bite sizes of prosciutto and melon, veal meatballs, prosciutto and asparagus, truffled risotto, seafood mix (calamari, scallop, shrimp), tomato and mozzarella, and Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese – a great looking spread.
The Downside: it was not as well-attended as it should have been, many people canceled because of the impending rain which never came.
The Upside: an opportunity to spend time with the agents and their principals.
The Contact Person: sean@gradwellwines.com and elizabeth@cottonwoodagency.com
The Event's Marketing Effectiveness and Execution (numerical grade):  93.
