Oct 5, 2010: Chilean wine show, ROM
The Time and Date: Tuesday, October 5, 2010
The Event: Wines of ChileToronto '10 Annual Tasting.
The Venue: Bronfman Hall, ROM
The Target Audience: wine trade
The Availability/Catalogue: a good model catalogue, with prices and CSPCs, plus agents and contacts. It was spiral bound and arranged alphabetically. Wines are either here or available by private order.
The Quote/Background: There was a separate table for many Carmenere wines, and there was also a separate table for Trophy and Gold Medal Winners from the 7th Annual Wines of Chile Awards. Both servers were extremely useful and knowledgeable.
The Wines: I did not taste all the wines.
**** Four Stars (91+ in Quality/Price Rating terms):
-VC Family Estates Gracia de Chile Sauvignon Blanc Reserva 2009 Bio Bio, $12.95Abcon
The Food: alas, nothing even vaguely Latin American -- Daniel et Daniel pates and cheeses, with various breads and dried fruit.
The Downside: it was presumptuous to give us a scoring mechanism out of 5. Also, we were not allowed to go to the washroom with our glasses, so I had to put my glass down. It was picked up, and I had to fetch another one. This is annoying, and it has happened before in wine tastings here at the ROM.
