May 25/10: Tasting of Zuccardi Argentine wines at Kultura

The Time and Date: Tuesday, May 25, 2010  5PM – 6PM

The Event: Jose Alberto Zuccardi was in town, and hosted some sit-down and stand-up tastings today. His winery is the second-largest in Argentina. He is repped by Dionysus

The Venue: Kultura, King Street East

The Target Audience: wine media

The Availability/Catalogue: 17 of 18 wines are available in the system, either at LCBO (six on General) or at Vintages.

The Quote/Background: unfortunately, one of the wines was not available for tasting – the Santa Julia Malbec Organic 2009 – because it was not picked up at the LCBO.

The Food: truffled beef tartare; fried tofu; rice balls; pot stickers. Zuccardi also makes olive oils, and we had a chance to sample three different ones based on three olive varieties including Manzanilla. The agency is thinking of importing these oils.

The Downside: it was very hot outside.

The Upside: just the right amount of time to taste some 16 wines.
