The Date and Time: Wednesday, July 31, 2013   3 Pm to 6PM

The Event: Lazio Delicatessen

The Venue: Italian Chamber of Commerce of Ontario

The Target Audience: food and wine trade

The Availability/Catalogue: there was a fat book (The Export Basket) describing the products from the Lazio region in Italy.

The Quote/Background: There were organic products, preserves, jams, pasta, baked goods, olive oils, ready-made foods, and wines from Lazio.

The Wines: I was there for the wines --

**** BEST -- Four Stars (91+ in Quality/Price Rating terms):

-Terre dei Rutuli Tyrrhenum IGT Lazio Bianco 2012 [malvasia puntinata, bombino] – deliciously fruity.

***1/2 BETTER -- Three and a Half Stars (8890 in Quality/Price Rating terms):

-Papalino Farm Calus Red Lazio IGT 2012, 5.90 Euros FOB [sangiovese, montepulciano]

-Terre dei Rutuli Rutulus IGT Lazio Rosso 2012 [merlot and cabernet sauvignon]

-Pietra Pinta Estate Costa Vecchia IGT Lazio Rosso 2010 [nero buono, montepulciano, petit verdot, merlot]

The Food: as displayed. I had a sample of Sabina Trading Donum Dei Extra Virgin Olive Oil, from three cultivars. It was deliciously fruity and peppery.

The Downside: the venue was a little crowded, but everybody seemed to know each other.

The Upside: it was a walk around affair.
