The Date and Time:  Wednesday May 30, 2018  11:30AM to 2PM
The Event: Wines of South Africa spring release tasting of wines from the Western Cape.
The Venue: National Club
The Target Audience: wine writers
The Availability/Catalogue: most wines are landed, some are private orders.
The Quote/Background: Seven Western Cape producers were part of the luncheon. Each gave details about their wines in general and the wine being tasted in particular. Wineries included De Wetshof Estate, DGB, Ken Forrester Wines, MAN Family Wines, Mulderbosch, Rustenberg, and Spier.
The Wines: There were three flights: Chardonnay, Chenin Blanc/Sauvignon Blanc, Syrah/Cabernet Sauvignon – 14 wines in all.

The Food: breads, salads, chicken breasts, and custards.
The Downside: I had to leave early, to attend a play.
The Upside: a chance to taste some South African wines new to the Ontario market. Plus we were all given a copy of the 2018 Platter Wine Guide.
